چکیده

In this work, the impregnation quality and mechanical properties of Pinus radiata D.Don treated with different copper nanoparticles (CuNP) solutions (named K1 K2) a commercial preservative (M) were studied. The pine wood was analyzed by two indicators, penetration retention. micro-distribution in qualitatively evaluated SEM-EDS, both samples containing CuNP those preservative. addition, some studied preserved including MOE, MOR hardness. results indicated values ED XRF retention 0.96 kg/m3 0.86 for K2, respectively, 1.01 M impregnated. determined colorimetric test, impregnated (with K1, K2 M) showed 100% penetration. distribution micronized within structure confirmed SEM EDS mapping. properties, reduction MOE reflected all treated. control far superior to slightly samples, no statistically significant differences. On other hand, highest hardness parallel perpendicular grain, revealing that these tend increase Overall, when it comes (M), considerably lower compared wood. Therefore, CuNP-based did not strongly affect

Release of copper-amended particles from micronized copper-pressure-treated wood during mechanical abrasion

BACKGROUND We investigated the particles released due to abrasion of wood surfaces pressure-treated with micronized copper azole (MCA) wood preservative and we gathered preliminary data on its in vitro cytotoxicity for lung cells. The data were compared with particles released after abrasion of untreated, water (0% MCA)-pressure-treated, chromated copper (CC)-pressure-treated wood, and varnishe...

Surface Properties of Bamboo and Scots Pine Impregnated with Boron and Copper Based Wood Preservatives after Accelerated Weathering

In this study, we investigated the color, gloss and surface roughness of bamboo (Phyllostachys bambusoides) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) samples impregnated with boron and copper based preservatives during accelerated weathering from 168 h to 672 h. Tanalith-E, ACQ, wolmanit-CB were used as copper-based chemicals, while a mixture of boric acid and borax (7:3; w/w) was used as the boron com...

Tolerance of Serpula lacrymans to copper-based wood preservatives

Serpula lacrymans, the dry rot fungus, is considered the most economically important wood decay fungus in certain temperate regions of the world, namely northern Europe, Japan, and Australia. Previously, copper-based wood preservatives were commonly used for pressure treatment of wood for building construction, but some decay fungi are known to be copper tolerant. In this study, soil-block test...

Micronized Copper Wood Preservatives: Efficacy of Ion, Nano, and Bulk Copper against the Brown Rot Fungus Rhodonia placenta

Recently introduced micronized copper (MC) formulations, consisting of a nanosized fraction of basic copper (Cu) carbonate (CuCO3·Cu(OH)2) nanoparticles (NPs), were introduced to the market for wood protection. Cu NPs may presumably be more effective against wood-destroying fungi than bulk or ionic Cu compounds. In particular, Cu- tolerant wood-destroying fungi may not recognize NPs, which may ...
